Emotions, Song & Meditation

Some people are very emotional. They can feel the pain, sadness, unhappiness of the others. They get too carried away with the emotions. Their own as well as of the others. The moods of others indirectly influence the emotional ones, in their own moods & actions.

Emotions barred or opened before the right person gets us true support & guidance. If let out before a wrong person though, it can be taken as our weakness. The wrong person can use it to have undue advantage over us!

It’s always best to have control over our feelings. We must think a hundred times before letting out our emotions in front of somebody.

Music can be very helpful in understanding & control emotions. Singing a song allows us to know how much emotions the song demands. We can put our emotions into singing or feel the emotions of the singer.

We may be going through a tragedy. We might be in pain. But while performing, we have to set aside the bad feeling & forget whatever happened. We may be in pain, but our song must depict the happiness required for the song. The show must go on.

We don’t have to struggle very hard. Just let the music flow through & it will do the rest. It will ease the pain. It will blur that bad memory. We will start feeling the happiness. We will forget our sadness in bringing out the real soul of the song. This is how music can be a very good medium to gain control over our emotions.

But turning away from the problem doesn’t solve it. Ostrich, for example, puts its head into a hole dug in the ground the moment it senses danger. But does this help when a hungry predator is around?

This is where I feel meditation can come to our rescue. Through meditation, we can uproot the pain from deep within. Without leaving any trace of the toxins of sadness. Meditation allows us to stand back stronger mentally as well as physically.

The true essence of life is conditioning our emotions. When in the hot sunlight of pain, we can take the temporary shade of a song. Till meditation finds us a permanent abode. Thus we can sail through our life’s bad phases with a smile on our face!

Let’s take right control of emotion as suitable for the right moment. This will make us a more balanced, steady and calmer person. Then no more will we get disturbed emotionally. Then no more will we lose our sanity!
